Indonesian National Team Called To Add Ammunition For 4 Foreign Players, Indonesian Football Association Chairman: Still Under Study

JAKARTA - Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) General Chair (Ketum) Mochamad Iriawan gave an answer regarding the emergence of four names of foreign players who will often strengthen the Indonesian national team. He said the name had already been submitted.

The four names that have been proposed by Shin Tae-yong as the head coach of the Garuda squad are Jordi Amat who is a Spanish national, Sandy Walsh, Kevin Diks and Mees Hilgers who is a Dutch national.

Despite confirming that the names of these players had been submitted by Shin Tae-yong, the PSSI chairman did not immediately confirm that the names could join. He said there are still many considerations and studies that need to be done.

"The four names have been submitted. However, I can't confirm whether they will be able to strengthen the Indonesian national team or not. We have to do a study, look at regulations and others," said Iriawan during the release of the U-18 national team at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta on Monday night.

Iriawan then explained the main reason that his party still had to review the name proposed by Shin Yae-yong. The PSSI still has to ensure the player's willingness to strengthen the Garuda squad.

Not to mention the matter of tracing the lineage that can determine whether or not the player is allowed to strengthen the Indonesian national team. For this reason, Iriawan asked all to be patient and wait for further decisions and promised to continue to accommodate the coach's request.

"Of course we take a lot of regulations, whether or not the lineage is true. What is clear is that we are waiting for news in our investigation of what Shin (Tae-yong) suggested or asked for," he said.

"We have to stay accommodated, but whether or not we still have to wait for news," said Iriawan.

Currently, the Indonesian national team is in Turkey to undergo a training camp and will conduct two test matches in preparation for appearing in the 2020 AFF Cup in December.
