Immobile Aggravates Azzurri's Injury List, Follows Barella, Chiellini, Zaniolo, Pellegrini And Verratti To Treatment Table

JAKARTA - Striker Ciro Immobile left Italy's training camp with an injury ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Switzerland. This situation occurred precisely when the European champions were faced with the increasingly complicated problem of player selection.

As reported by Reuters, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said that examinations showed the Lazio striker had a muscle problem. Instead, Sassuolo's Gianluca Scamacca has been called up to the national team.

Italy face Switzerland in Rome on Friday before traveling to Northern Ireland on Monday for their final qualifying match.

The match against Switzerland will be very important as Italy are currently both on 14 points but ahead on goal difference to lead the Group C standings.

Midfielder Nicolo Barella and defender Giorgio Chiellini are also injury doubts. The FIGC said none of the players trained Tuesday as they recently recovered from injury.

Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini lost two AS Roma players Nicolo Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini to injury, while playmaker Marco Verratti, who was instrumental in Italy's Euro 2020 victory, was not called up with a hip problem.
