JAKARTA - The Jetour T2 off-road SUV has recorded an important achievement in safety tests. This model successfully bagged the ASEAN NCAP five-star rating, based on a crash test conducted at the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI), Chongqing, November 25.
Even so, ASEAN NCAP said the final evaluation was carried out in December to complete the 2025 assessment calendar. This is also one of the last tests that still use the 2021-2025 protocol.
After that, ASEAN NCAP will enter a new protocol 2026-2030, which is said to pay more attention to ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) technology. As reported by Paultan, Monday, January 12.
In the test results, the Jetour T2 scored high in almost all aspects. In detail, this car received 37.17 out of 40 points for adult passenger protection, 15.94 out of 20 for children, 17.14 out of 20 for safety assistance, and 16.25 out of 20 for motorcycle protection.
As a result, the total score of cars that have been officially sold in Indonesia reaches 86.5 points. Interestingly, the ASEAN NCAP report also opens new indications regarding the production plan of the Jetour T2 in various regions.
Malaysia is listed under the other ASEAN production category, which raises speculation that the Jetour T2 will likely be assembled locally (CKD). This follows in the footsteps of other Jetour models such as the Dashing and VT9 which are said to be produced at Berjaya's Tampoi factory.
Not only that, the report also wrote the number of variants that will be marketed as two versions. However, ADAS features such as AEB, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Auto High Beam are listed as optional features.
If this information is accurate, then it is likely that the ADAS package will only be available in the highest variant. Jetour Auto Malaysia CEO Fu Yong, emphasized that this achievement is proof of the manufacturer's seriousness in making safety the main foundation of the Jetour T2.
"Achieving the ASEAN NCAP five-star rating is an important milestone for the Jetour T2 and a strong validation of its overall engineering and safety performance. From the sturdy body structure to the comprehensive safety system, T2 is designed to protect passengers and help drivers avoid collisions," said Fu Yong in an official statement.
He added, this result further strengthens the confidence of prospective consumers ahead of the planned launch of the Jetour T2 in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2026. For standard safety equipment, both variants of the Jetour T2 are rumored to be equipped with six airbags, seat belt reminders for all passengers, rear passenger detection, blind spot detection, pedestrian protection, child detection, and ISOFIX.
Currently, the Jetour T2 reservation is open with an estimated price of around 178,888 Malaysian ringgit or equivalent to Rp740 million. This price is more expensive than the price in Indonesia with a price of Rp588 million, outside the special price of Rp568 million for the first 1,000 consumers.
It is worth noting that Indonesia is the first country to launch the right-hand drive variant of the Jetour T2. The car launched at the 2025 GIIAS event has been assembled locally by utilizing the facilities of the Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) factory, which also makes the price cheaper.
