Mitsubishi Destination Wins This Award At VMARK Vietnam Design Award 2025

JAKARTA - The latest SUV from Mitsubishi Motors, the Destinator, won a gold award in the Best Industrial Product Design category at the VMARK Vietnam Design Award 2025.

This achievement marks the third year in a row Mitsubishi Motors received this prestigious award, having previously won awards for the Xforce compact SUV in 2023 and the Triton pickup truck in 2024.

Mitsubishi Motors Program Design Director Naoki Akita, said the Destinators combine impressive display and dynamic strength with a wide three-line cabin, designed to empower families as they embark on a new journey together.

"Following the success of Xforce and Triton, we are truly honored that the direction of our continued design is gaining high recognition. We remain committed to sharing the value of the Destination with more customers," he said, in his official statement, Thursday, October 9.

On the same occasion, Head of the Sales and Marketing Division, Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Co., Ltd Hiroaki Ozawa, revealed that since the launch of the Destination concept car in Vietnam last June, the company has received strong interest and high expectations for its production model.

"This design award provides a strong momentum for year-end launches in Vietnam. We believe the Destination will present a true seven-passenger SUV for the family, with an elegant design and premium interior that guarantees convenience for all passengers," he said.

Founded in 2018, the VMARK Vietnam Design Award was organized by the VDAS Design Association based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This year, a jury consisting of 46 well-known international design experts evaluated works from Vietnam and around the world. The works are judged to be based on five criteria innovation, environmentally friendly, identity, functionality, and community. Of the 531 works that came in this year, only 18 projects were selected to receive gold awards, which recognized the most extraordinary designs.

Mitsubishi Destination itself is a family SUV that debuted for the first time in Indonesia. This model is powered by a 1.5 liter turbopetrol engine powered by 161 hp and a 250 Nm torque, combined with a CVT transmission. The detector will be equipped with advanced driver assistance features, selectable driving mode, and Active Yaw Control that Mitsubishi has patented.

There are several safety features embedded, ranging from Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which participates in acceleration, deseleration, and vehicle cessation in front, as well as forwarding while maintaining the established distance between vehicles, Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Leading Car Departure Notification (LCDN) to Multi Around Monitor, which as a whole provide high preventive protection. Stay safe and comfortable thanks to the presence of six SRS airbags.

For the Indonesian market, All New Destinations are present in three variants ranging from GLS which is priced at Rp385 million, Exceeded Rp405 million and Ultimate's highest at Rp465 million.
