Sales Of Tires Up 8 Percent Amid The Lesunya Of The Indonesian Car Market

JAKARTA - In the midst of slowing car sales in Indonesia due to global and domestic economic conditions that have not fully recovered, tire sales have shown a positive trend. As of this year, tire sales have recorded an increase of around seven to eight percent compared to the same period last year.

This was revealed by the President Director of Bridgestone Tire Indonesia, Mukiat Sutikno. He revealed that this growth was mainly supported by the replacement market or tire replacement, while sales to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market aka automotive manufacturers and relatively stable exports.

"Indeed, this year's automotive market is not very good due to global factors and the domestic economy. But in terms of the reimbursement market, its performance is still quite good, around seven to eight percent higher than last year," said Mukiat in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 8.

He added that his party is still targeting higher sales growth in the coming year, as there is hope for an improvement in the national economic situation.

"The target is of course we want to continue to increase. We hope that by 2026, with changes and more positive policies from the Ministry of Finance and support for consumer purchasing power, the market can move better," he explained.

This optimism is driven by expectations that the automotive sector will be excited again if fiscal policies and incentives for consumers are directed appropriately.

We see that the growth opportunities in the retail market, especially the tire replacement segment, are still very large. As long as policies and economic conditions support it, we believe sales will be even more positive," he concluded.

For information, Bridgestone's exports have reached more than 70 countries. Even so, the export market contributes about 30 percent to total sales. Meanwhile, around 70 percent of Bridgestone Indonesia's sales still rely on the domestic market, from OEM and also on tire changes.
