Unplugged Performance Launches Anti-Damped Lunar For Tesla Models 3 And Y, Equipped With Life Insurance

JAKARTA - Electric cars (EVs) weigh heavier than cars with an internal combustion engine (ICE) in their class. The main cause is the large battery used to store energy, which is much heavier than the ICE car fuel tank. For example, the Heavy Tesla Model 3 weighs about 1,800-2,000 kg depending on battery capacity, while the Toyota Corolla (ICE) is only 1,300-1,500 kg.

The extra EV weight can increase the pressure on rims, especially when hitting a poor hole or road surface, so the risk of poilers or cracks is slightly higher, especially in light aluminum rims.

As a breakthrough, Unplugged Performance has just released a tempa rim (orged wheel) which is claimed to be the first of its kind and is said to not be destroyed, complete with life insurance.

Unplugged Performance itself is known as a Tesla modification specialist. On their websites, various accessories can be found ranging from aero kits, boosting brakes, to selection of rims for other Tesla models.

Autoblolog reported, quoted Monday, August 11, this revolutionary product is called the UP Forged Road Warrior, or UP-RW. As the name implies, this rim is made with a forcing process of a single aluminum piece, making it much stronger and lighter than ordinary printed rims (wheel casts). Its unique and aerodynamic design is also integrated to maintain aerodynamic performance almost the same as factory's built-in rims.

This rim is specially designed for all models of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. The claim 'not destroyed' is the main attraction, but this rim is also equipped with a smart feature, namely a replaceable outer lip. This feature is very useful in the event of minor damage such as sweeping the sidewalk.

The price offered is not cheap, but it is still relatively reasonable for high-quality tempa rims. A 19-inch set of UP-RW rims is priced at 2,595 US dollars (equivalent to Rp42.2 million), while a 20-inch size costs 2,995 US dollars (equivalent to Rp48.6 million. This price is clearly quite high when compared to a classic steel wheel, which costs only a quarter of the UP-RW.
