JAKARTA - BYD is one of many Chinese car brands that is not kidding about expansion in the European market. Not only presents its advanced model line, this manufacturer also plans to expand charging facilities in the UK.
The automotive company from the bamboo curtain country will present a 1.000 kW charging station to be installed across the UK.
Previously, BYD planned to install 5,000 1,000 kW chargers across China in the first year. However, the expansion of the facility is much faster than expected and is now targeting around 15,000 units in China in the same period.
Launching from Autocar, Monday, July 14, the manufacturer plans to take the technology to the global market and one of its most important markets is Britain. King Charles' country is positioned as the initial adopter of the system.
Thus, BYD has prepared to install the country's first megawatt charger by the end of this year.
The company has not provided a time frame for launches in the UK, but is believed to be in talks with companies that can partner for the installation of the new device.
"We're working on it now, and then we'll start at the end of this year," said BYD Auto Executive Vice President Stella Li.

The presence of this high-power charger is certainly in preparation for BYD in the adoption of electric vehicles better in the UK. What's more, the manufacturer has confirmed that it will launch the Denza Z9 GT as a model compatible with the system and is planned to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
The first megawatt charger will be paired in a number of Denza subbrand dealers specially designed for this shooting brake-style car.
The manufacturer also said all Denza cars would match the charging. However, the subbrand will increase its vehicle lines in the UK such as B5 and D9 which are plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivers. Thus, the Z9 GT will be the only model suitable for this 1,000 kW charger.
This system is also not only present exclusively for Denza cars, but can be used by electric vehicles from other brands.
"This charging station can also be used on other cars. The only problem is the car that determines its power because our car can absorb all power," added Stella Li.
The 1000 kW BYD device is equipped with two 500 kW wires combined to generate maximum output when plugd together to two Z9 GT charging ports.
