JAKARTA - A car manufacturer from China, BAIC, seems to be very serious about working on the Indonesian automotive market. Currently, the brand has brought two mainstay car models, namely BJ40 Plus and X55-II, which are Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) cars.

In fact, the brand has started local production of its first model, namely BJ40 Plus, which is located in Purwakarta, West Java. In addition, it will also carry a hybrid car, namely BJ30 which will be introduced at the GIIAS 2025 event next month.

Not only that, BAIC apparently plans to bring a pure electric car or BEV to the national automotive market. This was revealed by the Chief Operating Officer of BAIC Indonesia Dhani Yahya.

"For this year we will bring a hybrid car, and the following year we will bring Arcfox," he said, when met on the sidelines of a factory visit, Monday, June 2.

Dhani Yahya revealed that later the car will enter Indonesia in February. Most likely, the IIMS 2026 exhibition will be an event for the launch of pure electric vehicles from BAIC.

"February has an Arcfox T1," he explained.

He further said that later the electric car model that will be presented in Indonesia will also be a plan to be assembled in Indonesia.

"So the same, after imports from China will be assembled in Indonesia," he added.

Of course, a new breakthrough is eagerly awaited from BAIC Indonesia to present the latest model, especially now that the development of environmentally friendly vehicles in the country is relatively fast.
