JAKARTA - Bad news came from Honda American who had to recall around 295,000 vehicles, Honda and Acura brands in the United States.

Quoting from its official website, Friday, January 31, the recall was due to problems with the Fuel Injection Electronic Control Unit (FI-ECU) software.

This recall was also announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), on Wednesday, January 29. Tertuang, the affected model is production from 2021 to 2025.

If in more detail, the affected model involves Acura MDX Type S with production in 2022-2025, besides that there is a Honda Pilot produced in 2023-2025 and finally Acura TLX Type-S with a production year of 2021-2025.

"Because the FI-ECU programming is not right, suddenly changes in the thrust can occur in the engine and cause the engine to lose its driving force," Honda said in a statement.

This condition can increase the risk of accidents or injuries. American Honda self-diagnosed this problem by monitoring telematic information and determining the need to update the software to the supplier.

The registered owners of all affected models will be contacted by letter in March, and are required to take their vehicles to the official Honda or Acura dealer to update the FI-ECU software for free.

American Honda announced this recall to encourage the owners of the affected vehicles to immediately take them to an official dealer for repairs once they receive a notification.
