Toyota Announces Three Model Recalls In Australia A Total Of 1,271 Units, Here's The Culprit

Toyota again had to recall vehicles in Australia, involving 1,271 units of Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross Hybrid, and Corolla Sedan Hybrid.

It was reported that the cause of the recall occurred because there was a potential error in the steering axis. The car affected by the program involved models from 2023 to 2024.

According to the Infrastructure Department, the error was caused by a production defect that caused a crack in the universal connection to the wheelhouse construction and as time went on, the damage could widen.

"Due to production defects, cracks can occur in a universal connection over the wheelhouse buildup. Over time, these cracks can widen due to repeated pressure and can cause loss of steering control," the Infrastructure Department said, quoted by Drive, Tuesday, December 3.

Toyota Australia will immediately contact the affected vehicle owners by scheduling a meeting agreement so that the steering axis is replaced for free.

Earlier in August, Toyota announced the 'Customer Service Exercise' program to correct the error on parking brakes for the hybrid C-HR SUV in Australia. It was stated that the affected vehicles amounted to 2,348 units.

The manufacturer said that when the vehicle was towed, the Parking Support Braking (PKSB) system operated accidentally when backward teeth were selected and resulted in the system activating the vehicle brakes when the gear displacement position was moved back.

The manufacturer has not classified the error as a recall, as the automaker voluntarily offered to resolve the issue and immediately contacted the owner.
