GAC And Huawei Establish Cooperation To Make New Premium NEV Brands

JAKARTA - GAC and Huawei are collaborating with the commitment to creating a luxury New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand, in addition to GAC Trumpchi and Hyptec.

Quoting from the Carnewschina page, Monday, December 2, the cooperation between the two major companies in China will cover Research and Development, marketing, and services. Each company will also take advantage of its strength to bring the leading intelligent experience to users.

"GAC has 27 years of experience in vehicle manufacturing, while Huawei focuses on information and communication technology and has excellence in the field of intelligence," GAC said in a statement.

In the signing, it was attended by GAC Chairman Zeng Qinghong and General Manager Feng Xingya, Huawei Chairman Eric Xu, and CEO of the smart vehicle solutions business unit Jin Yuzhi.

This collaboration is similar when Huawei is in a relationship with Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), which houses four brands namely Aito (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), Stelato (BAIC) and Maextro (JAC).

The collaboration between these two companies is in fact not new, where two years ago GAC had suspended a cooperation project with Huawei related to smart cars on the grounds that it did not require a new brand, and in the same year GAC issued an announcement that it approved the implementation of the project between GAC Aion and Huawei (the AH8) model.

According to the agreement at the time, the two parties would jointly define and develop a series of smart cars for the future based on a new generation of smart car digital platform based on GAC GEP 3.0 and Huawei CCA platforms.

Furthermore, in the following year GAC issued an announcement stating that the GAC Aion AH8 project had changed from joint development with Huawei to independent development, and Huawei would participate as suppliers.

This step reinforces GAC's commitment to present many new models. For next year, GAC plans to launch seven models, and the next three years will launch 22 new models.
