Beranya Masih Impor Dari Korea Selatan, HMID Ungkap Alasannya

JAKARTA - PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) has officially released the latestpresentation for the Indonesian market as well as the second Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) model to be marketed in the country after the Santa Fe all-new.

However, unlike Santa Fe, which is a local construction (CKD) of the Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) factory in Cikarang,iri still holds the status of a fully imported vehicle (CBU) from South Korea.

This was confirmed by the President Director of PT HMID, Ju Hun Lee, that his party still needs to test the market of this model before it can determine whether it can be assembled locally or not.

For now, it is CBU from South Korea that we introduce. We will see the response of the Indonesian people. If it starts to stabilize, then we will make sure the CKD assembly is made up of You," said Ju Hun Lee to the media at SCBD, Jakarta, Thursday, November 21.

PT HMID's Chief Operating Officer, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto also added that the C segment occupied by haphazard was not as big as other SUV markets in the country, so his party decided that currently the model was sold in CBU state.

"We took the decision to sell C-SUV to my mind even though it's not that big in the market. But, we also want to know what kind of market response it is," added Frans.

However, Frans also added that if there are so many receptions, it is certain that this SUV will not only be assembled locally, but can also be exported to several markets in Southeast Asia.

"If the market response is large, then we can assemble it locally so that Indonesia can later become a hub for exports to the Southeast Asia region," explained Frans.

Currently, HMID is selling fourth-generation Hyundai with prices ranging from IDR 632 million for the ICE variant and IDR 743 million for HEV. If manufacturers decide to assemble it locally, it is possible that the price tag will drop and be more friendly for Indonesian consumers.
