Still CBU Thailand, When Will Hilux Rangga Be Produced In Indonesia? This Is TAM's Answer

JAKARTA - All-New Hilux Rangga was officially sold to the Indonesian market by PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) recently. The model will compete in the Indonesian commercial vehicle segment.

However, this pickup-style car is a Complete Build Up (CBU) product or a complete import from Thailand. Is there an opportunity for All-New Hilux Rangga to be produced locally or Completely Knocked Down (CKD) in the future?

Responding to this, Marketing Director of PT TAM Anton Jimmi Suwandi explained that his party had no plans to produce it in Indonesia. However, it does not rule out the possibility that Hilux Rangga will be produced locally by several factors.

There is no plan to produce Hilux Rangga in Indonesia yet. However, the opportunity is open. Because the IMV platform has also been produced here. So, it is possible," said Anton in Kemayoran, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 17.

He also said that currently his party is still relying on production in Thailand because the country has been the production center for the Hilux pickup for a long time.

"It should be noted that Thailand is indeed a production center from Hilux and they produce it on a large scale, both domestic and imported," added Anton.

Although still imported, Anton also revealed that when Hilux Rangga arrives at the hands of customers who have been converted into multipurpose vehicles, the local content will also increase.

"We import pick-up and cab-chassis types. So when a customer buys with a body builder from a caroseri, the local content can exceed the import value of up to 40-50 percent," said Anton.

Toyota Hilux Rangga has a 1TR-FE 2,000 cc gasoline engine with 139 ps and a 183 Nm torque. Meanwhile, diesel type has 2GD-FTV 2,400 cc with 149 ps of power and 343 Nm of torque.

This commercial car is available in ten variants with four of the type of gasoline and six others are diesel. The gasoline variant is priced from Rp. 188.7 million to Rp. 215.7 million and diesel from Rp. 244.7 million to Rp. 304.5 million. All prices include On The Road DKI Jakarta.
