BYD Opens The Option To Present Cheap Electric Cars In Indonesia

JAKARTA - PT BYD Motor Indonesia currently has various electric car lines ups that fill several segments, most recently M6 which enliven the electricity MPV market.

Head of Marketing & Communication of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, revealed that BYD plans to add several other models, including filling the entry level segment.

"We must be able to accommodate all segments, including premium and entry level," he said when met in the Bekasi area, Monday, October 7.

However, the man who is familiarly called Luther revealed that BYD is now focusing on the existing model, but it is also possible that it will bring another model in the near future.

"ByD is one of the EV brands that accommodates the premium segment, so we will definitely bring new products again," he added.

Unfortunately, he did not elaborate in more detail on what entry level model will be brought in Indonesia, and it seems that the model will not launch in the near future considering he had said that there would be another model introduced this year, most likely the model in question, namely Denza D9.

In dimensions, Denza D9 is classified as similar to Toyota Alphard or Lexus LM 350h. The length is 5,250 mm, the width is 1,960 mm, the height is 1,920 mm, and the wheelbase is 3,110 mm. Then Denza D9 has a 2+2+3 chair configuration, where the second row seat is the complete captain seat model with leg rest and massage features on the back.

As an electric car, BYD Denza D9 is certainly equipped with a large capacity battery. This car battery has a capacity of approximately 103 kWh. The car is claimed to be able to cover a distance of up to 620 km.

Then if you talk about electric cars entering the level, then BYD has Seagull which is an entry level model in China which is also selling well in a number of global markets.

In China, Seagull's tiny electric car with a compact body is priced cheaply, starting from 69,800 yuan (around Rp. 152 million). However, despite being cheap, this car is powered by 55 kW of electric motors and 135 Nm of torque. The car is offered with two battery options, namely Blade LFP with a capacity of 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh.

The 30.08 kWh battery model is capable of bringing the car forward 305 km, while the 38.88 kWh battery can reach 405 km based on CLTC testing.
