Tesla Reportedly Will Launch Model Y Version 7 Seater Production China

JAKARTA - Tesla is reportedly planning to launch a seven-passenger version of Model Y made in China, and will be marketed in China and Europe next October.

Citing from the CNevpost page, Friday, August 30, the news is based on local media report National Business Dily, which also states that the production of the model has begun at the Shanghai Gigafactory Tesla.

The National Business Daily said it was seeking confirmation from Tesla's team in China, but had not received a response. However, after the report was published, Tesla claimed that the news was fake.

Indeed, when Tesla launched Model Y in March 2019, the Elon Musk manufacturer exhibited the flexibility of seven seats. Only in 2021 Tesla will start offering additional seven-seat options in the United States market.

Currently only the four-wheeled and double-motor Y Range Model supports the seven-seat option in the US, but consumers have to pay more (increase) of 2,000 US dollars or around Rp. 30 million.

Sebelumnya pada September tahun lalu dilaporkan bahwa Tesla berencana merilis versi terbaru Model Y pada paruh pertama tahun 2024, dengan penjualan diperkirakan akan dimulai pada akhir tahun 2024.

The report at the time said the updated seven-seater Model Y would weigh 45 kilograms more with the addition of a third row seat, and the maximum passenger weight limit would be increased by an additional 70 kilograms.

"Currently, the seven-seat version of the Model Y produced in China has completed the required certification process in Europe," the National Business Daily report said.

The report also states the presence of the Model Y of seven passengers related to the company's need to improve its performance both in China and in Europe.

"The emergence of rumors of Model Y with seven seats is related to Tesla's need to improve its performance," the report said, citing an unnamed industry.
