NHTSA Stop Investigation Of V6 Kia Machine Without Recall, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Last year, the Office of Protects Investigation (ODI) which is a division of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States to investigate models that could potentially be recalled, launched an investigation into Kia's 3.3 liter V6 machine. Recently, the investigation has been closed.

Reporting from Carscoops, Wednesday, July 31, the division announced that manufacturers do not need to start recalling. Previously, it was reported that the head of the gasket from the machine had problems.

ODI received a number of problems surrounding the 3.3 liter engine in the 2016-2017 Sorento model. It was reported that the movement between the head and the engine block was sometimes too weak, causing symptoms such as leakage of cooling liquid, leakage of oil, overheating, and others. However, the driver was not aware of it so and had to get a warning from the vehicle indicator that something was wrong.

These symptoms suggest that the head of the gasket is a major problem. Reports from the field suggest that technicians have found faulty head gaskets in some cases.

If this happens, it can cause the engine to overheat and even the head of the engine cylinder to become broken or twisted. In some cases, replacing these components will solve this problem. But in other cases, replacing the new engine is the only solution.

Nevertheless, ODI said that the problem occurred normally and was not an emergency to make a recall.

"Through a review of the information provided by Kia and socialization to consumers, ODI confirmed that most of the alleged defects could be detected fairly," wrote ODI.

In addition, Kia also took steps to extend the warranty period for vehicles affected by up to 15 years or within 180,000 miles (about 290,000 km) depending on which one was successfully passed first.

Other models that also have similar machines with similar potential problems are Sorento 2014-2015, Sedona 2015-2016, and Cadenza 2014-2017.
