TANGERANG - Lexus officially marketed the LBX model to the Indonesian market through the GIIAS 2024 exhibition by entering the sub-compact SUV segment.

Present to fill a new segment that has never been explored, Lexus positioned LBX under UX and made it a model at affordable prices. However, what is the target market targeted by this SUV?

General Manager of Lexus Indonesia, Bansar Maduma, said that LBX is intended for young people or consumers who want to drive the car themselves.

"If you look at this for young consumers and want to drive alone, especially for urban areas," said Bansar when met by the media at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Wednesday, July 17.

Bansar added that it wants to enter a market where consumers want a transition from a mass-sold model to premium products and LBX is considered very worthy of being in this position.

"So we see the segment below Rp1 billion, so we see a market niche where there are consumers who want to switch from mass-brand to luxury brand and this is what we are trying to airline with LBX," added Bansar.

Regarding the waiting period, Bansar also explained that this all depends on the variant chosen. For bespoke or according to orders, customers must wait to get their units for the next 9 months because this is an imported product (CBU) from Japan.

"For the indent, the standard may be around the end of the year. But the bespoke can take 9 months because this is the personalization option according to the customer's wishes," explained Bansar.

LBX Lexus is a relative of the Toyota Yaris Cross European specifications. The name LBX comes from the abbreviation of the Lexus Breakthrough X(crossover), a car that uses the concept opposite to the rigid idea of a luxury car.

Built on the GA-B platform, the model has a compact dimension with a length of 4,190 mm, a width of 1,825 mm, a height of 1,545 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,580 mm.

In the internal section, LBX carries a hybrid powertrain by presenting a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine that can produce a combined 134 dk and 185 Nm torque combined with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) transmission.

With the power generated from these engines and electric motors, this is enough to make LBX run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 9.2 seconds.

LBX Lexus is priced at IDR 895 million on The Road DKI Jakarta.
