BYD Dolphin 2025 Launches In China, Offers A Longer Range At The Same Price

JAKARTA - The well-known electric car manufacturer from China, BYD, officially launched Dolphin 2025, which offers a longer reach at an unchanged price.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Tuesday, July 8, Dolphin 2025 is the same as its predecessor, Dolphin Glory Edition, which is present in four variants, prices ranging from 99,800 yuan or around Rp223 million, and at most touched 129,800 yuan or Rp290 million.

As is known, BYD Dolphin Glory Edition was just launched early last year, and the 2025 model was introduced less than six months after the last update. This highlights how BYD acted quickly in response to the increasingly rapid changes in the market environment.

In design, there is no change, including the dimensions of the car where it is still 4.125 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,570 mm high, and has a 2.700 mm wheelbase, meaning that dimension has not changed since its inaugural launch in 2021.

Meanwhile, the updated Dolphin presents a larger battery pack for the entry-level variant and the highest price, resulting in a longer reach.

Three Dolphin 2025 variants at a lower price are powered by a blade battery with a capacity of 44.928 kWh with a CLTC range of 420 kilometers. The variant with the highest price carries a larger blaze battery with a capacity of 60.48 kWh and has a CLTC reach of 520 km.

In comparison, the four Dolphin Glory Edition variants carry 32 kWh, 44 kWh, 44 kWh, 44 kWh, and 44 kWh batteries, as well as 302 km CLTC, 420 km, 420 km, and 401 km.

Three cheaper pricing variants Dolphin 2025 have the same powertrain as Dolphin Glory Edition, with an electric motor that produces a 70 kW peak power and a 180 Nm peak torque, with accelerations from 0 to 50 km/hour within 3.9 seconds.

The highest price variant is powered by more powerful motors with a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm which allows vehicles to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/hour within 3.5 seconds.

On the same occasion, BYD also announced that the 700.000th Dolphin was launched from the assembly line, indicating the demand for the car was relatively high.

This one car itself is also present in Indonesia, but the specifications are certainly different. For the Indonesian market, it comes in two variants, namely Dynamic which is pinned with a Blade battery with a distance of 410 km, and a Premium variant that uses the same battery with a distance of 490 km.
