Sophisticated! US Dealer Network Uses AI To Detect Defs On Cars

JAKARTA - Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is now being used in various sectors, including the automotive industry. Apart from being used in the infotainment system, AI is now also playing a role in the operation of car dealers.

One of the US dealer networks, Findlay Cadillac in Las Vegas, has successfully used AI to carry out initial inspections of vehicles. This technology shows superior AI capabilities compared to manual inspections by humans.

It was Findlay Cadillac's first dealer network in Las Vegas to use an automated vehicle inspection system developed by UVEye, as quoted by Carscoops, Monday, June 24.

The process is very simple and fast, not taking more than a minute. The car only needs to pass through a large scanner system that takes pictures from each angle, including the bottom of the vehicle. Furthermore, the AI system detects all forms of defects in 30-45 seconds on the exterior, tires, and other mechanical components. Customers then receive a full condition report from their vehicle, similar to MRI scanning for the car.

After that, dealer mechanics will deal with various detected problems, ensuring the car can operate safely on the highway. While the implementation of this AI is very sophisticated and is able to find problems that technicians may miss, the Cadillac Findlay dealer network ensures that this does not result in the loss of jobs in their service department. Instead, this technology creates additional jobs for technicians by allowing them to fix problems that may have previously been missed.

The AI system used by Findlay Cadillac is nothing new in the US. There are already around 300 dealer services across the US that use this system. The use of this technology is expected to accelerate time efficiency and reduce the waiting period for improvements.
