Tesla Introduces Three New Electric Cars Still Covered With Mystery

JAKARTA - In the annual meeting of Tesla shareholders, Friday, June 14, local time, CEO Elon Musk announced the company's plans to produce a series of new electric cars (EVs).

The presence of these cars is still kept secret, but Tesla teases its fans with images featuring three mysterious vehicles covered in sheaths.

Although Musk did not explain the details of the shape of these new vehicles, the teaser images and rumors previously circulated provided an overview of the next test car.

"Of course, we're working on some new products," Musk said, quoted from Car and Driver, Saturday, June 15.

"I thought it would be an amazing product. At first people might think, oh, it wouldn't be too amazing, but just wait, it would be cool," Musk promised.

Of the three vehicles covered in the sheath, one looks taller and boxy. This sparked speculation that the vehicle could be a van, dubbed "Cybervan" by Tesla fans.

Tesla gave a signal at a previous presentation that they were interested in entering the commercial or passenger van segment. The electric van segment is currently starting to get busy with the presence of competitors such as Ford E-Transit, Ram ProMaster EV, Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, and General Motors BrightDrop Zevo.

Two other vehicles hidden under cloth have a low and sleek profile. One of them may be the second generation Roadster, which was first disclosed in 2017 and promised to be produced in 2020. That date continues to change, with Musk saying in February that their electric sports car will eventually arrive in 2025.

One of the upcoming electric vehicles is most likely Tesla's robotaxi. In April, Musk once said that Tesla's robotaxi will be revealed on August 8. This special self-driving vehicle will use a complete suite of Autopilot and Tesla's Full Self-Driving software.
