NHTSA Investigate Nissan Rogue Model In The US, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into nearly 75,000 Nissan Rogue Select models in 2015 due to problems in the airbag.

The road safety regulator in the United States (US) said that the airbag was accidentally active when users of this vehicle closed or slammed the door, resulting in the loss of function from the device.

"We are working with NHTSA in response to this initial evaluation. The company appreciates its relationship with NHTSA and will continue to engage in transparent and collaborative dialogue on all product safety issues," Nissan wrote.

The news emerged after the Japanese manufacturer announced a recall of its old vehicles related to airbags from Takata suppliers. NHTSA said as many as 83,920 Nissan vehicles issued in 2002-2006 were affected by this problem in the United States (US). This problem can increase the risk of death in an accident.

The Japanese manufacturer issued an urgent warning with the affected models including the 2002 to 2006 output center, Pathfinder 2002 to 2004, and Infiniti QX4 production from 2002 to 2003.

The owner is advised to immediately check whether the vehicle is included in the withdrawal. This can be done simply by checking the NHTSA Lookup Tool Recall to search for an open recall by checking the number plate and vehicle identification number.

In addition, affected vehicle owners can contact the local dealer network to solve the problem. Although not all networks serve this, a number of dealers accept this problem by making withdrawals and repairs for free.

An air bag inflator from Takata that can explode triggers the recall. In fact, the slightest accident can result in the explosion of Takata's air bag which results in injury and even death.

NHTSA also noted that as the vehicle and its airbags age grows, the owner will face a higher risk.
