A Total Of 1,700 Mazda BT-50 Pickup Units Must Be Withdrawn In Australia, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Bad news came from the Mazda brand. The reason is, the company based in Hiroshima, Japan must make a recall in the BT-50 pickup in Australia.

Drive reported, Monday, May 20, that the number of cars affected was 1,703 units with an output in 2021-2023. The cause of this recall was due to potential damage to the number plate light.

The local Infrastructure Department said the number plate light on the BT-50 could not turn on while at a speed of 10 km/h and was likely due to a software problem on the Body Control Module.

"If the vehicle lights don't work properly, other road users may not be able to identify the vehicle in a parking position and when driving at night," the Infrastructure Department wrote.

Thus, this can increase the risk of accidents resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle users and other road users. Also mentioned, this recall only applies to models equipped with 1.9 liter turbodiesel engines.

Mazda will provide spare parts and vehicle owners who are affected will be contacted by the company. Vehicle owners will be scheduled to meet with dealers to replace the Body Control Module device for free.

At the end of 2023, Mazda also had to face a recall involving the CX-60 PHEV SUV model as many as 766 units in the Kangaroo country.

The start of the recall process was due to an error in software programming which resulted in the car losing power when running.

Loss of driving power when driving at high speed can increase the risk of accidents. This has the potential to result in injury or death for vehicle passengers and other road users.

However, the model affected was only the PHEV variant. Other types such as turbo-gasoline and turbo-diesel were not affected by the problem. These two variants have arrived at the Kangaroo State market in mid-2023.
