Risk Of Suddenly Strikes When Drivered, Ford Pulls Bronco Sport And Maverick

JAKARTA - Ford pulled a compact Bronco Sport SUV and Maverick pickup truck due to problems that could cause the two vehicles to die suddenly while driving.

Ford's second withdrawal took place this April following the recall of the Bronco and Escape ranks, a total of nearly 43,000 vehicles affected.

Fortunately, improvements to this issue have been found and will be available for free at Ford's official dealer within the next month.

This withdrawal includes the latest and most recent Ford Bronco Sport models, as well as the production Ford Maverick pickup from 2022 to 2023.

Quoting The Drive, April 18, from the official withdrawal document from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), last October it was discovered that these two vehicles were prone to engine failure problems for starters or loss of power when driving, which then caused the car to not be revived.

Well, further investigations found that most of the problems were lost after the 12-volt battery on the vehicle was replaced. This then led to the identification of the main cause of the problem. And it is known, the control modules of the body and the powertrain on both vehicles, both Bronco Sport and Maverick, were not properly calibrated. As a result, the module cannot detect a low battery voltage. In situations where the alternation does not produce sufficient power, or when the stop-start feature is used, the vehicle engine can shut down and cannot be restarted. This problem can also cause other electronic components, such as hazard lights, to malfunction, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

In total there are 402,978 Bronco Sport units and 53,587 Maverick units affected by this withdrawal. Ford has received 917 warranty reports regarding the matter, as well as three unverified reports of fires and two property damage reports. Luckily, there were no reports of injuries as a result of this problem.

Ford will begin to notify vehicle owners affected by this recall starting on May 13. Affected car owners can visit Ford's authorized dealer to get updates on the problem module for free.
