JAKARTA - Volvo Cars is one of the automotive companies that has a commitment to the transition to complete electrification. This Swedish brand has even been firmly becoming an electric vehicle brand (EV) entirely by 2030.

To strengthen its commitment, models such as XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, which are two lines of EV models, will be renamed EX40 and EC40. The placement of the letters E previously existed in EX30, EX90, and EM90.

Thus, the name badge Recharge will be removed within the EV ranks as well as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. Especially for PHEV cars, it will be labeled by names with the end of T6 or T8. The standard name of this latest model is expected to make it easier for old and new customers to distinguish EV and PHEV models.

"By aligning our first electric models with our other electric car portfolios, we simplify the choice for consumers as we continue to electrify our line of products and refresh our hybrid vehicles," Bjorn Anwall, as Volvo Cars' Chief Commercial Officer, said on the company's website, Wednesday, February 21.

In addition, the brand also introduced the latest Performance package software for the EX40 and EC40 Twin Motor models. It is said that this package can increase power by 25 kW and includes unique pedal mapping for faster accelerator responses and 'Performance' modes to fully remove 325 kW of power.

This move reflects Volvo's transformation towards fully electrified brands. For information, during 2023, the EV segment accounted for 16 percent of global sales volume, an increase of 70 percent compared to 2022.

The company also ensures that models such as EX30, EX90, and EM90 will launch this year while adding to their portfolio in presenting more EVs globally.
