JAKARTA - Honda made a breakthrough by presenting a concept version of its newest electric vehicle called 'Seri 0', namely Saloon and Space-Hub, in the 2024 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) earlier this year.
The Japanese company revealed that these two concepts will become the basis of their future electric vehicle (EV). In addition to carrying futuristic designs, a number of advanced technologies will also be presented.
Reporting from InsideEVs, Saturday, January 13, the first model on the 0 'Seri' will be equipped with Steer-by-wire technology. This means that there will be no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheel, such as road vehicles in general.
Steer-by-wire systems remove these physical relationships and instead tell what front wheels should be done electronically based on driver steering input. It is stated that this technology can bring major changes to vehicle functionality.
"Steer-by-wire allows us to have more freedom in vehicle packaging, which means we also have more freedom in the form of vehicles," said Mitsuru Kariya, head of Honda Automobile Electrification Strategy.
The conventional steering wheel configuration provides certain limits in terms of creating vehicle maneuvers. With this system, it is hoped that drivers can freely drive without limits.
