The Drama Scandal Test Collision Has Not Been Completed, Daihatsu Admits That He Has Manipulated For 30 Years

JAKARTA - Daihatsu, a vehicle manufacturer from Japan, has caused a stir in the world's automotive industry in 2023 by claiming to have manipulated data on the results of the side-brake safety test. From Daihatsu's report which was reported internally in April 2023, there were around 88 thousand units of cars affected by this manipulation scandal involving cars from other brands, including Toyota, which is the parent company.

The results of the investigation were successfully issued by the Third Party Independent Committee chaired by Makoto Kaiami. And the latest shocking news came back from the company regarding this scandal.

Reporting from CNN International, Thursday, December 28, Daihatsu acknowledged that they had falsified the results of the vehicle safety test for more than 30 years. Currently, the producer is still stopping domestic production in Japan.

The manufacturer, known for its small-sized cars, has stopped production at its four Sakura factories since last Tuesday, including at one of its headquarters in Osaka, a company spokesman said.

The closure will last at least until the end of January and have an impact on around 9,000 employees working in domestic production. The move comes as Daihatsu grapples with an increasingly severe safety scandal that Toyota says has shaken the company's foundations.

According to the report, the oldest cases were traced back to 1989 with an increase in the number of cases since 2014. Responding to this non-wearing phenomenon, Toyota promised to overhaul the entire company system from Daihatsu.

"This will be a very important task that cannot be completed overnight," the giant company said.

The results of a recent impact test investigation found 174 new cases in 25 testing items, apart from the manipulation of the pole side hit test last May. The report states that there are irregularities in 64 models and 3 machines, including models that are under development and whose production has stopped.
