JAKARTA - Volkswagen wants to present an all-electric Grand Touring Injection (GTI) iconic model that will arrive in 2026. This was confirmed by Volkswagen's Head of Design, Andreas Mindt.
Quoted from the Carscoops page, Monday, December 25, 2023, in an Instagram post, the designer provides a brief overview of the legendary GTI nickname. The original GTI Golf starts from 1975, which is limited to 5,000 sales.
"Until now, we have sold more than 2.8 million vehicles worldwide. In 2026 we will introduce an electric version of this iconic model," Mindt wrote, on Instagram's social media page.
In the picture made in the form of sketches, it appears that VW will use Golf's nickname for the production version of the electric GTI. Of course, it is worth waiting for a breakthrough from Volkswagen for the electrification segment.

Speaking of the GTI model, electricity has been widely discussed since the middle of last year, where in July 2023 the company has updated the GTI logo for its electric car and has submitted it to the German Patent Office and Trademark.
This legendary name will appear with the last letter replaced by a symbolic lightning pattern.
Of course, GTI is a very meaningful name for VW and is usually applied to models with a variant or high performance, as we know from Golf GTI in the past and in a few years an electric version will be born.
