Electric Charging Transactions At SPKLU PLN Soared To 21,461 Throughout 2023

JAKARTA - The use of electric vehicles in Jakarta is increasing and is in line with the trend of using Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Jakarta. There are 44 SPKLU locations with 72 'chargers' in Jakarta.

Based on data on the use of SPKLU in 2023, until August 2023, PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) Jakarta Raya recorded 21,461 transactions with electricity consumption of 438,402 kWh.

Not only is the use of SPKLU increasing. The number of Public Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Stations (SPBKLU) and General Electric Charging Stations (SPLU) has also increased. There are 245 SPBKLU locations with 290 cabinets. This SPBKLU is used for charging/replacement of electric motor batteries, the user is dominated by online motorcycle taxi drivers.

PLN UID Jakarta Raya has also provided 3,441 SPLUs spread across Jakarta. SPLU electricity consumption from January to August 2023 amounted to 1,359,587 kWh. The SPLU provided by PLN can be used to charge electric vehicle batteries, such as motorbikes, bicycles, or electric scooters. Not only that, this SPLU is also widely used by street vendors, both in markets and other public facilities.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Lasiran revealed that PLN UID Jakarta Raya is committed to continuing to support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Jakarta.

The number of electric vehicle users in Jakarta is increasing day by day. Therefore, PLN is also trying to be able to prepare a charging station infrastructure that is easily accessible to electric vehicle users, and of course collaboration with other parties is highly expected," said Lasiran in a statement received by VOI, Tuesday, October 17.

The plan is that PLN UID Jakarta Raya will add 20 SPKLUs in 2023 with 7 of them Ultra Fast Charging types that allow electric car drivers to charge batteries in just 30 minutes.
