JAKARTA - The 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which will take place at ICE BSD, Tangerang, in less than a month. The largest automotive exhibition in Southeast Asia will present 49 motor vehicle manufacturers, the highest number in GIIAS history.
One of the many manufacturers present at GIIAS 2023 is Chery. The Chinese vehicle manufacturer has again enlivened the stage at ICE BSD by presenting several interesting products, including the first BEV Chery car in Indonesia.
"Of course with advanced technology, Chery Indonesia will launch one of the Battery Electric Vehicles that we will show at GIIAS 2023," said Rifkie Setiawan, Head of Public Relations of PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), during a presentation at JW Marriott, Jakarta, Thursday, July 13, 2023.
The BEV car that Chery will launch at GIIAS 2023 is most likely the Chery Omoda 5 BEV. The SUV, which will compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Indonesia, is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 61 kWh and an electric motor with 220 dk.
With this battery capacity, the Omoda 5 BEV can cover a distance of up to 450 km in full battery condition. With this figure, this electric-powered SUV is parallel to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 which can cover a distance of 384 km to 481 km.
"The product is a prototype, but it is close to mass-production which will be sold in Indonesia," added Rifkie.
Selain Omoda 5 BEV, Chery juga akan meluncurkan dua kendaraan terbaru yang kemungkinan merupakan SUV bermosial. Sehingga, Chery akan menjadi persentian perhatian dalam gelaran GIIAS 2023.
