Engine Can Burn, Ford Pulls 120,000 Hybrid Vehicle Units

JAKARTA - Ford Motor Company recalled more than 120,000 hybrid vehicles due to damage to engine parts that could cause fires.

It was reported that the Ford hybrid model affected by the recall from Escape Hybrid and Maverick as well as the Lincoln brand Corsair Hybrid.

Quoted from CarBuzz, Sunday, June 11, the company recorded problems in 86,656 units of Ford Escape produced in 2020-2022, 35,501 units of Mavericks, and 3,165 units of Hybrid Corsair. This problem stems from the use of 2.5 liter Duratec iVCT Atkinson cycle HEV/PHEV machines.

So, in the machine there is a damaged oil tub so when turned on it can cause a fire. This problem started from a manufacturer that received a report globally in June 2022.

Ford approved field research on the matter on May 19, 2023, after the results of the identification of the damage were found in the oil tub. And among the signs that the car had problems including the sound of the car changing noisyly, reducing the engine torque, and smoke. Therefore, Ford appealed to all owners to park and turn off the engine when one of the signs of the problem arises.

Ford will send a notification letter starting June 12 and is expected to be completed on June 16.

Apart from Corsair, another Lincoln model, MKC, also experienced a recall due to a damaged battery monitoring sensor that could cause a fire. The affected car owner will receive a notification letter starting June 26.

This isn't the first time Ford has made a recall throughout 2023. Previously, the Bronco SUV was affected by the recall due to problems with the seat belt and pulling 175,500 vehicle units.
