JAKARTA - Tesla's well-known electric vehicle brand, has announced the recall of the Tesla Model X due to problems with rear cameras that were previously updated through the over-the-air system.

This announcement was made by the US Highway Safety Agency (NHTSA) which notified related vehicle owners.

Reported by the Hindustan Times on Sunday, April 16, 38 units were affected.

Tesla has equipped the vehicle with a self-driving 4.0 feature and used a software version of 2023.2,200. However, a weak rear camera signal causes rear camera images not to appear on the screen, disrupting rear visibility when receding and potentially causing accidents.

This problem was discovered in February after a rear camera in one of the Model X units failed on the touch screen display.

Tesla then launched an over-the-air software update on March 9 and handled all affected vehicles on April 5. However, after the investigation, a voluntary recall was decided on March 29.

Tesla has fixed all vehicles affected by the problem via over-the-air updates and raised the backup camera signal to ensure signal connectivity. The manufacturer has also installed a 2023.2.201 software update or later on the Model X without further action.

However, users of Tesla Model X cars who are still worried can use the recall program voluntarily by contacting Tesla services. To date, Tesla has not recorded any accidents caused by problems in rear cameras.
