General Motors (GM) will implement a hands-free driving system, called Ultra Cruise, on the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq. It is reported that Ultra Cruise will replace Super Cruise on GM vehicles in the future.

Then what kind of technology is predicted to be better than Tesla? Super Cruise itself is semi-automated driving technology. This technology allows the driver to let the vehicle drive itself on pre-mapped and tested highways, without having to put your hands on the wheel.

To get to this stage, there are cameras, sensors, and digital maps combined with GPS data to help vehicles monitor their surroundings and keep their distance from other vehicles. This technology can also change speed, drive in lane, and make lane changes automatically.

However, being semi-autonomous, this technology still requires further development and the driver must be prepared to take control at any time if necessary, including paying close attention to road conditions and the surrounding situation.

Well, Ultra Cruise is the result of the development of the Super Cruise technology announced by GM. The result? Building on the already excellent Super Cruise system, according to GM, the Ultra Cruise will have additional sensors (the most important sensor being the lidar unit behind the windshield) that feed information into the new computing system to create a 360-degree three-dimensional view of the vehicle's surroundings.

Now for the optimization of Ultra Cruise, the Cadillac Celestiq 2024 is also equipped with 7 8-megapixel resolution remote cameras located in the front, corners, rear, and sides of the vehicle. This camera will help the system to detect objects such as traffic signs, traffic lights, other vehicles, and pedestrians.

Not only that, the car is equipped with short-range radar which is placed in the four corners of the vehicle, this radar is used to help sense a radius of up to 90 meters, such as pedestrians crossing the road or vehicles in the surrounding lane.
