JAKARTA The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) responded positively to the decision of the Thailand SEA Games Organizing Committee (THASOC) to move the location of a number of sports (sports) from Songkhla to Bangkok and Chonburi.

This change takes into account the flood conditions that are currently hitting the South Thailand area, including Songkhla Province which was originally designated as one of the 33rd SEA Games host provinces.

The decision to move the venue was made in the second meeting of the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee and the 13th ASEAN Para Games led by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, Athakorn Sirilathyakorn, and attended by various Thai sports officials and related associations.

Chef de Mission (CdM) Team Indonesia for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, expressed Indonesia's full support for the decision.

"Athlet safety has always been a top priority. We understand and support the steps taken by the 2025 Thailand SEA Games Organizing Committee to relocate a number of venues to safer and more ready-to-use areas," said Bayu.

The sports whose arenas have changed are muaythai, men's football (qualification), chess, kabaddi, wushu, pencak silat, judo, petannque, karate, wrestling, and billiards and snookers.

The relocation is carried out for the sake of safety and to ensure the smooth running and quality of the largest multi-branch event in Southeast Asia.

Bayu said that the Indonesian team would immediately adjust all technical preparation plans with related sports, including the venue survey and adjustment of contingent strategies after changes made by the organizers.

"We hope that this transfer will further ensure the quality of competition and comfort for all athletes from participating countries," he said.

Of the 11 sports affected, 10 of them already have substitute venues, while wrestling is still waiting for confirmation.

According to reports, severe flooding in South Thailand has claimed more than 80 lives. Now the water is starting to recede, but conditions in a number of areas are still critical.

The disaster then caused concern to a number of participating countries in the 2025 SEA Games, especially after the floods transmitted by mosquitoes.
