Eze Expected To Give More To Arsenal After First Goal

JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta believes Eberechi Eze can still make more contribution to Arsenal's attack line after watching him score his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, Thursday, September 25, 2025, early morning WIB.

Eze scored just eight minutes after the game started at Vale Park. Despite chasing the initial goal, Arsenal struggled to create a clean chance against the League One club.

The Gunners were only able to secure victory through substitute Leandro Trossard in the 86th minute.

However, his first Eze-gol goal since the transfer cost 60 million from Crystal Palace - has seen enough for Arsenal. The 27-year-old became the brightest striker of the Gunners.

"He played very centrally against the team in a 5-4-1 formation, very compact in the central area, finding space. He was very capable of scoring goals and with three or four other actions, he was able to penetrate the opponent's defense."

"He still needs to play more with the players to understand his timing, especially the things he needs to do."

"Then, such actions will be more consistent and better for us. In general, they are very good, I think there is still a lot that can be improved," said Arteta.

Eze started on the left side of Arsenal's attack for the match, but has played in a number of different positions in five appearances so far.

Arteta has her own reasons for not placing her in one position.

"In the end, what we want to do with it is put it in positions that allow it to create magical moments."

Arsenal spent the summer looking for a better squad depth as they wanted to compete in various events this season.

Recruitment of Eze is an important transfer to increase the creativity of attacks. The midfielder can also be played in many positions which could be a solution if an injury storm like last season comes again.
