Indonesia Makes History In FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Cup 2025

The Indonesian Women's Basketball U-16 national team at the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Cup 2025 Division B (doc. Perbasi).

The Indonesian Women's Basketball National Team U-16 made history for the first time successfully ranked third at the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Cup 2025 Division B.

Successfully occupying the third position and bringing home the bronze medal from this event was confirmed after Indonesia defeated Hong Kong with a score of 51-30 on Friday, September 19, 2025.

"This is a historical record because three years ago we were in seventh place and are currently up third," said Christopher Tanuwidjaja, always Deputy of the Perbasi DPP for Human Resources.

Indonesia harus puas hanya berjuang untuk membawa posisi ketiga setelah di babak semifinal kalah melawan India. Di samping sisi, Hong Kong gagal ke final usai kalah melawan Iran.

This victory is also Indonesia's revenge against Hong Kong. Previously in the group phase, Hong Kong managed to beat Indonesia with a score of 74-71.

Cristopher said that the achievement of the Indonesian U-16 Women's Basketball National Team gave a good signal for the future of Indonesian women's basketball even though it has not been included in Division A.

"So, everyone remains enthusiastic in fostering all clubs and schools and others. I hope you will remain enthusiastic because all this is thanks to the work together, Indonesia, we can be here," he said.

Overall, Indonesia packed a total of three wins in this tournament and suffered two defeats, including in the semifinals.

At the time of the group stage, Indonesia managed to secure two wins from three matches. Both wins were won over Tonga in the second match and over the host Malaysia in the last match.
