Liverpool Will Create A Diogo Jota Memorial Statue At Anfield

JAKARTA - Liverpool have announced plans to build a permanent statue at Anfield in memory of Diogo Jota.

The club also confirmed that the players will wear the "Forever 20" emblem on their T-shirts and jackets this season.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, the Reds also announced a special warning, including a mosaic of supporters and a moment of silence ahead of Liverpool's season opener against Bournemouth on August 15, 2025.

Thousands of flowers, scarfs, banners, and other honors have been placed outside Anfield since Jota and her brother, Andre Silva, died in a car accident on July 3, 2025.

The club says the flowers have been moved over the past week and stored. While honorary wreaths will be postulated and used on a stretch of flowers across the club's sites, including Anfield, AXA Training Center, and Melwood's AXA Training Center.

The remaining items will be recycled and used to create a permanent warning statue that will serve as a warning focal point at Anfield.

Liverpool have announced after consulting with Jota's family that their number 20 shirt will be retired at all levels of the club, including the women's and academy team.

Supporters can print "Diogo J. 20" on T-shirts at club stores. Sales profits will be donated to the LFC Foundation, the club's official charity.

The foundation has committed to creating a grassroots football program in Jota's name.

Apart from that, wreaths will also be placed before pre-season matches in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Anfield.
