China Open 2025: Jafar/Felisha Repeat The Sixth Seed

Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu beat sixth seed to the second round of the 2025 China Open (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu stopped sixth seed Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie when they started their journey at the 2025 China Open.

The pair won over representatives of Malaysia to pass the first round of the BWF Super 1000 level event in the rubber games 18-21, 24-22, and 21-15 on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Jafar/Felisha were already on the verge of defeat when they lost the first game and then trailed 17-20 in the second game. However, four points in a row after that changed the situation.

"I'm very grateful to still be able to win today. Earlier, we were 17-20 behind in the second game after losing in the first game, but God still gave us sustenance," said Felisha.

This victory extended Jafar/Felisha's sweet record over the Goh/Lai pair. Of their total two competitive clashes, the Malaysian representative never won.

These two meetings all took place in this year's calendar. One other clash occurred at the Asian Badminton Championships in April 2025, which ended in two straight games.

"It was quite difficult today, especially in the second game because my top ball was stuck a lot. The influence of the wind was felt, so the touch was always not right," said Jafar.

The results obtained by Jafar/Felisha made all three Indonesian mixed doubles playing in this tournament all still safe.

Two mixed double tickets were secured by Indonesia before them, each through Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.

Amri/Nita qualified after stopping Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi from China, while Rehan/Gloria eliminated the Indian pair, Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh.
