Failed In French Open Final, Aryna Sabalenka Chooses Rehat To Mykonos And Self Evaluation

PARIS Tennis player from Belarus Aryna Sabalenka chose to forget the world of tennis for a moment after a painful defeat to Coco Gauff in the French Open 2025 final. Sabalenka, who again failed to win the Grand Slam title this year, said he wanted to take a break before preparing for Wimbledon.

"I've ordered a ticket to Mykonos. I need time to forget about this crazy world... and today's crazy events," said Sabalenka, quoted from Roland Garros' official website, Sunday (8/6/2025). Yes,iri, Gummy bear, swim, become a tourist for a few days. That's all I need now.

Sabalenka lost to United States player, Coco Gauff, in a fierce three-set match with a score of 7(5)-6, 2-6, 4-6. This defeat was his second disappointment in the Grand Slam final this year after previously also falling in the 2025 Australian Open final against Madison Keys.

"In a different way, I can actually see the same pattern," he said. "Gauff was really amazing in the last games. He did an incredible, even excessive blow, and everything came in."

According to Sabalenka, Gauff's game is much more solid in conditions of strong winds which make it difficult for him to maintain consistency himself.

"He puts more balls on the pitch than I do. I have to step back and learn from this. I can't keep making the same mistakes," said the 27-year-old.

This defeat also ended Sabalenka's impressive performance on clay this season. Previously, he won his third title this season in Madrid and performed brilliantly when defeating Iga Swiatek in four French Opens in the semifinals. The victory stopped Swiatek's 26 consecutive wins at Roland Garros.

However, he couldn't repeat his impressive performance in the semifinals in the top.

The last two weeks I have faced amazing players and played very well. But today... it was my worst tennis in recent months, "I'm Sabalenka. He (Gauff) is better at dealing with conditions like this. Despite his disappointment, Sabalenka remains committed to getting up and improving his performance. He hopes that in his next meeting against Gauff, he can play more calmly and intelligently in determining his strategy.

"I will try to play more patiently and not rush to make decisions on the pitch," concluded the 2024 US Open champion.
