JAKARTA Former world number one from Spain, Rafael Nadal, will receive credit at a ceremony at the 2025 Grand Slam Roland Garros.

Director of the tournament, Amelie Mauresmo, said that the honor ceremony for Nadal will be held at Philippe Chatrier Square at the end of the first day of the tournament, Sunday, May 25, 2025.

"The idea is to have a vision for the future and to celebrate those who have shaken our hearts in the past," Mauresmo was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Nadal, who retired in November 2024, has won 14 of the 22 Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros.

In tennis history, no other player has won a single title in one Grand Slam event as much as Nadal managed to do at the French Open.

"Rafa made history at Roland Garros and his 14 titles probably won't be any counter," said Mauresmo.

Nadal, now 38, won his last Grand Slam title at the French Open in 2022. It was also the last Grand Slam title in his career.

He then lost to Alexander Zverev who ended up runner-up in his last appearance at Roland Garros last year.

Nadal is the second tennis player in the history of the men's singles number with the most Grand Slam titles. He is behind Novak Djokovic (24 titles) and in front of Roger Federer (20 titles).

Nadal and Federer are currently officially hanging up their rackets, while Djokovic is still active. However, the Serbian effort added to the Grand Slam in his career seemed rather difficult to happen.
