Vinicius Happy With The Possibility Of Neymar's Return To The Brazilian National Team

Vinicius Junior said he was happy with the possibility of Neymar returning to Brazil's National Team for the 2026 World Cup Qualification match against Colombia and Argentina.

Brazil will announce their squad on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with Neymar expected to be included.

The 33-year-old has not played for Brazil since the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers match against Uruguay in October 2023 when he picked up a serious knee injury that kept him out for a year.

"The expectations are big because he is an idol of our generation," Vinicius said of Neymar to the Brazilian TNT.

He returned to Santos' childhood club in the January 2025 transfer window with the aim of rediscovering his form after injury limited his performance to just seven times in more than 18 months at Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

Neymar revealed that he returned to his best physical condition after scoring a goal in a 2-0 win on Monday, March 3, 2025, against Bragantino. The goal was the third in four new games for Santos.

"We are very happy that he returned to Santos. He scored again and was happy, which has always been the most important thing," said Vinicius.

Neymar left the field in the 76th minute of the match against Braantino due to thigh problems and had to receive treatment on the bench.

However, he then assured fans that he was fine.

Meanwhile, Brazil is fifth in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers group, seven points adrift of leaders Argentina after 12 matches.

Dorival Junior's team have won five and lost four of their qualifying matches.

Brazil will face their next two matches, against Colombia in Brasilia on March 20, 2025 and a classic South American match against Argentina in Buenos Aires five days later.
