AMMAF Will Focus On Helping Potential Indonesian MMA Athletes

Menpora Dito Ariotedjo received a visit from the President of Asian AMMAF, Davron Juraev, to develop MMA (doc. Kemenpora).

JAKARTA The Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AMMAF) wants to focus on helping the development of Indonesian young mixed martial arts athletes in the age range of 10 to 17 years.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, after receiving a visit from the President of Asian AMMAF, Davron Juraev, and representatives of the Indonesian Central Executive for the Mixed Self-Defense Amateur Mixed Martial Art (PP IBCA MMA) on Monday, February 24, 2025.

"In my opinion, this is very appropriate because the potential for martial arts in Indonesia is very large," said Dito as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Dito also admitted that he received broad exposure to the development of MMA in the world during the meeting. According to him, this meeting is very productive in helping Indonesia in the future.

"Later in the future, AMMAF can help the development of MMA athletes in Indonesia, one of which can help stand up fighting, where there will be a match between pencak silat. There is the potential for pencak silat athletes we can play in MMA," he said.

The development of MMA in Indonesia is recognized by Davon Juraev. For this reason, he really wants the sport to be more advanced and attractive to the Indonesian people.

"It is a shame if there is no international federation that accommodates it. Therefore, AMMAF wants to bring MMA to be more professional with the Olympic target," said Davon.

Indonesia has previously hosted the 2024 GAMMA World MMA Championships. The event succeeded in presenting more than 50 countries with hundreds of athletes competing in various categories.

Indonesia as the host also fielded athletes at the event. At that time, Indonesia's best achievement was to get one gold medal through Bayu athlete Peni Hendrasswari.
