Indra Sjafri Tells The Process Of Election Of 23 Indonesian U-20 National Team Players

Indra Sjafri has various things to determine 23 players from the U-20 Indonesian national team (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - A total of 23 players from the U-23 Indonesian national team have been officially announced. Behind the decision, Indra Sjafri as the coach revealed the selection process with various criteria.

Before getting 23 names for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup team, the U-20 Indonesian national team first underwent a training camp (TC) in Jakarta. Then there is also a trial agenda by holding a mini tournament entitled Mandiri Challenge Series 2025 in Sidoarjo.

During the TC period, the coaching team selected players from various aspects with the aim of getting the best players who met the criteria. On January 5, 2025, the selection process began.

Indra Sjafri revealed that the players were chosen based on various other supporting aspects.

"We validated various data through a series of tests carried out starting from physical, medical, psychological, and various other test parameters," said Indra Sjafri, in a statement released by PSSI quoted Thursday, February 6, 2025.

The U-20 Indonesian national team has three debutants who will be brought to China. They are Fava Shefa Rustanto (PSPS), Evandra Florasta (Bhayangkara FC), and Aulia Rahman (PSIS).

In addition, the names of subscription players such as Dony Tri Pamungkas, Kadek Arel, M Ragil, Ikram Al Ghifari, and Jens Raven were also given the opportunity to appear again.

The U-20 Indonesian national team will compete in the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup which will be held in Shenzhen, China, from February 13 to March 1, 2025.

Young Garuda entered Group C with the Uzbekistan U-20, Iran U-20, and Yemen U-20 teams.

"Hopefully these 23 players will be able to provide maximum capabilities and be the answer to the hopes of all Indonesian people."
