United Provincial KONI Demands Revision Of Permenpora Number 14 Of 2024

JAKARTA The provincial Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) throughout Indonesia is compactly demanding that the Regulation of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Permenpora) Number 14 of 2024 be revised.

They asked if necessary the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo to revoke the regulation because it contradicts Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sports which mandates the Government only as a facilitator.

"The attitude of the compact province KONI agreed to request a revision of Permenpora 14 of 2024 because it was considered that many were not quite right," said the chairman of KONI NTB, Mori Hanafi, when contacted on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

In addition to contradicting the law, Permenpora also violates the Olympic Charter (Olympic Charter). This charter prohibits government intervention, which should only support facilities and infrastructure as well as funding.

This problem has the potential to cause a commotion in the national sports arena, especially the partnerships that have been going well so far between sports organizations, KONI, and the Youth and Sports Offices in the regions.

Responding to this situation, the provincial KONI also has a plan to finalize the formal form of submitting the revision through the Mukernas forum in May 2025.

They are currently submitting a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives in charge of sports issues. The letter to RDP has also been sent so it is just a matter of waiting for the schedule from the DPR.

Mori said that the sport had also made an agreement to address KONI so that the inauguration and training of its management were carried out by KONI, both at the central and provincial levels.

"Not at the Kemenpora or Dispora as regulated by the Permenpora. The condition has been going well for years."

"We in the regions also partner well with Dispora because there is already a clear division of tasks," said Mori.

The attitude of the provincial KONI is because Permenpora is considered to be able to interfere with Indonesia's concentration in preparation for various international sports multi-pronged events, such as the SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.

The chairman of the Bengkulu KONI, Dedy Ermansyah, who was contacted separately, firmly said that he did not agree with Permenpora at all because he arranged the recommendation and inauguration of the sports management.

In fact, the sports organization was formed by its members or the community.

"Of course we want to meet with Menpora Dito to equalize our enthusiasm in coaching Indonesian sports," he said.

In addition to violating the Olympic Law and Charter, the emergence of Permenpora is also very surprising.

This regulation suddenly exists without socialization involving the participation of sports organizations and academic research.

"There was no socialization, suddenly it appeared, so it took us all by surprise. It was like a kup action," said Dedy.

If the Menpora does not respond to the revised demands, the provincial KONI will take steps to submit a judicial review to the Constitutional Court.

"We are also currently compiling steps to submit a judicial review to the Constitutional Court against the Permenpora," said Dedy.
