PSSI Chairman Says The Indonesian National Team Will Have Assistant Coaches Who Focus On Regeneration

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir plans the assistant coach of the Indonesian national team to focus on regeneration (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair (Ketum), Erick Thohir, confirmed that the Indonesian national team will have assistant coaches who focus on dealing with player regeneration.

Later, this figure will focus on dealing with the age group of either U-17, U-20, or U-23. PSSI's big idea coincided with the appointment of Patrick Kluivert as the new coach of the Garuda Squad.

In his new task of dealing with the Indonesian national team, later Patrick Kluivert will also be assisted by two assistant coaches, namely Alex Pastoor and Danny Landzaat.

However, it is not certain whether Pastoor or Landzaat will hold the National Team of the age group.

"Rencana memang ada asisten di Tim Nasional yang fokus juga regenerasi. Bukan tidak tidak tidak mungkin juga nanti bisa membantu di kelompok usia."

"However, we have not confirmed it because later let Patrick Kluivert announce it," said Erick Thohir in a statement quoted Monday, January 20, 2025.

Erick Thohir also explained that the announcement of the assistant coach for the Indonesian national team for the age group would first be carried out. Only after that, PSSI will announce a new Technical Director.

"The results of the previous long discussions are because I believe that good programs are not only good coaches and good player quality, but also how this regeneration is sustainable and each coach can still work together," said Erick.

"Maybe the assistant coach will be announced by the new Dirtek at the end of February 2025," he said again.

So far PSSI admits that it is quite difficult to find the right technical director figure. The reason is, one of the requirements of the PSSI Directorate of Technology is a figure who can really be respected and understand Indonesia's plans in the future.

"What is difficult is that, we want a full-time Dirtek who can live in Indonesia. We had three names, last month I believed."

"However, yes, we have changed again. Hopefully, the end of February 2025 can be announced," said Erick.
