Patrick Kluivert Ready To Implement Formation 4-3-3 In The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA Patrick Kluivert, the new coach of the Indonesian national team, revealed the initial strategy that will be applied to the Garuda squad. In a press conference session that took place at the Mulia Hotel, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, January 12, Kluivert expressed his love for attacking football and possession. As a first step, he will implement a 4-3-3 formation, which according to him is very effective for teams who want to master the game.

Kluivert stated that he had applied the formation when he helped Louis Van Gaal handle the Dutch national team at the 2014 World Cup, where the Netherlands managed to finish in third place. He added that even though the 4-3-3 formation had already been implemented, he would first assess the condition of Indonesian national team players to ensure that this system was suitable for implementation.

The performance of Patrick Kluivert as coach of the Indonesian national team will be directly tested in the next two matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Group C. Indonesia will face Australia at home on March 20, 2025, and Bahrain on March 25, 2025 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta. Currently, the Indonesian national team is in third place in Group C with six points, with a thin distance from Australia which is in second place with seven points.

Meanwhile, in a separate session, Kluiver also promised to give his best ability to bring the Indonesian national team through to the 2026 World Cup. Kluivert also shared his first experience meeting with Indonesian fanatical fans when he arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. "When I arrived at the airport, everything went smoothly, but as soon as I left, people came crammed in. I like the spirit that can be seen, it is the spirit of Indonesia," he said, showing great enthusiasm for the support of Indonesian supporters.

Kluivert officially signed a two-year contract with the option of a two-year extension, and he will be accompanied by assistant coaches from the Netherlands, Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat. Two Indonesian coaches will also be involved in the assistant team.
