PDIP Finally Talks About The Names Of The Presidential Candidates That Are Circulating Faster

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto ensured that his party chose to concentrate on synergizing with President Jokowi, especially in encouraging people's economic programs due to the impact of the pandemic.

“PDI-P appreciates President Jokowi who immediately went to the regions. That's why the synergy of connectivity is put forward. All three pillars of the Wahib Party are moving in tune with the Government to help the people," said Hasto in his written statement, Sunday, October 31.

Answering questions about the PDIP presidential and vice-presidential candidates, ahead of the National Working Meeting on 1-3 December 2021, Hasto emphasized that the stages of the general election have not yet been determined. "Mother Mega will decide later. Politics is an art. Then there is the momentum. The presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be presented at the right moment. Moreover, from the survey, the people's main concern is still on economic issues and the pandemic, not the vice-presidential candidate," said Hasto after the PDIP DPP Pre-Rakernas Coordination Meeting.

"So don't bring up the contest too early, sorry President Jokowi. Because Pak Jokowi now, when the pandemic is controlled, he moves quickly throughout Indonesia. This is what the PDI-P has responded to," added Hasto.

When asked further whether at the National Working Meeting there would be a discussion about the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Hasto reiterated that it would be determined by Megawati in due course. This is in accordance with the mandate of the party congress.

What is clear is that in the National Working Meeting, the party will prepare all ranks so that the collective interests of the nation and state are resolved.

"So that the party's responsibilities to more than 270 million Indonesian people can be carried out as well as possible," he added.

Hasto continued, Megawati actually pays attention to how all PDIP ranks move quickly, processing strategic matters related to party consolidation. And the main thing at this time is how to synergize all levels of the party to move with the Jokowi government in the people's economic recovery program.

“Especially after the pandemic and in the face of a pandemic. Then of course we also prepare strategic steps to win the 2024 legislative and presidential elections," he said.

What is clear, Hasto said that the KPU itself has not set a definitive election schedule. So that there is no interest for his party to rush to determine the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

And PDIP also reflects on the experience where Jokowi was appointed as a presidential candidate in 2014, about 3 months before the election.

The priority for PDIP is that all ranks of the party are moving to take steps to consolidate among the people.

"And this is a pandemic issue. We will help President Jokowi to quickly recover from the pandemic, especially the people's economy. This is our concern,” said Hasto.

PDIP also takes into account the responsibility of the president in the future which is not light. There must be continuity of the next administration with the current administration of President Jokowi in facing challenges and in order to move quickly.

“The consolidation of ideological aspects is also important so that the next president will not face various ideological struggles and will be more solid in the path of Pancasila. That was prepared by the PDI-P. We continue to build connectivity between the Jokowi administration and all PDI-P cadres," he concluded
