Gerindra Signals To Pull Saefullah From The DKI Deputy Governor's Exchange

JAKARTA - The chairman of DKI Gerindra DPD Muhammad Taufik gave a signal that the appointment of the DKI Regional Secretary Saefullah as a candidate for deputy governor of DKI was canceled.

However, Taufik was reluctant to state explicitly that Gerindra only left three people to be nominated as candidates for vice governor. The three people besides Saefullah were the Advisory Board of the DPP Gerindra Arnes Lukman, Gerindra Deputy Chairman Ferry Juliantono, and Gerindra Secretary General Ahmad Riza Patria.

"It doesn't fall. The Regional Secretary is better off just being the Secretary," said Taufik when met at City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 19.

"It's just a clue," continued Taufik, laughing.

According to Taufik, Saefullah needs to be considered as someone who remains in the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government because he understands the Jakarta problems. Given, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will finish serving in 2022.

After Anies stepped down, the election for the Governor of DKI will be held in 2024 following the General Election simultaneously. That means, for 2 years DKI did not have a governor. The leadership position of DKI is held by the Acting Governor who is usually appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"Now, the election will be in 2024, meaning that in 2022, the governor's job will be completed, then the Acting. Imagine that if his secretary joins the vice governor, he should also stop (because he has relinquished his ASN status," Taufik explained.

Previously, the Gerindra Party faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD began to struggle because the process of selecting candidates for Deputy Governor of DKI was still stuck and had not been carried out.

Moreover, the two candidates for deputy governor of DKI that he has promoted with PKS, namely the General Secretary of the DPW PKS DKI Agung Yulianto and former Deputy Mayor of Bekasi Ahmad Syaikhu have not been elected.

Gerindra also came up with another name. Three of them are Gerindra and Saefullah cadres.

When asked for confirmation, Saefullah did not want to show a political attitude. Even so, he understands Gerindra's wish to run for him because the supporting party has the right to propose anyone.

He said, if there was an urge to leave the ASN position and run as a candidate for Deputy Governor of DKI, he would run. If it doesn't work, it won't be a problem either.

"I am, how can I just live my life. It doesn't matter what I want to be. I am in a position to be istikamah to carry out the mandate. The mandate from the governor is also a mandate from the people in essence. It will just flow," explained Saefullah.
