JAKARTA - Beautiful actress Jennifer Coppen recently shared an open story about her mental health condition. Through a post on her Instagram Story, this mother of one revealed the reason behind her decision to stop drinking coffee, a drink she really likes.
Not because of a diet or health trend, Jennifer admitted that her decision was triggered by a condition of health anxiety or health-related anxiety disorder that was quite severe.
Jennifer explained that the caffeine contained in coffee actually backfired on her mental state at that time. Coffee gives a pounding heart effect which then triggers excessive anxiety.
"Actually I'm not a mutin to stop drinking coffee because I want to stop drinking coffee, like, I really like drinking caffeine, and I used to love it so much," said Jennifer Coppen as quoted by VOI from an Instagram upload, Wednesday, August 5.
He added that the physical sensation produced by coffee makes his mind not calm and instead makes his anxiety relapse.
"I had to deal with severe health anxiety. If health anxiety is sometimes like feeling your heart beating and all sorts of things. And of course coffee is very unhelpful because it makes your heart beat faster, so it triggers my anxiety, it gets worse," he continued.
This condition turns out not only to make Jennifer afraid to drink coffee, but also limit other activities. He admitted that he had felt afraid of many things, including doing a hobby that he really liked, namely swimming in the sea.
"My thoughts were like I was afraid of everything, like I was afraid of drinking coffee, afraid of swimming in the sea, afraid of many things," he recalled.
However, after going through a long two-year journey to recover, Jennifer now feels much better. She regularly undergoes therapy and consults with professionals to overcome her anxiety.
"After I have now been in the healing process for two years, therapy, psychological meetings, and others, and slowly found myself back, I finally can do the things I like again," said the star of the 90s film: Melancholia.
