Rachel Vennya's Case Is Getting Closer To Suspect

JAKARTA - The case of the escape of Celebgram Rachel Vennya from Wisma Atlet Pademangan is getting closer to being named a suspect. This is because the police have decided to raise the status of this case from investigation to investigation.

Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus said the decision to increase the status of the case to investigation was based on the results of the case title. Where, it is believed that there is a criminal offense.

"This morning, the case was carried out, I just finished getting the information. The case title and the result were that the investigation was raised to an investigation," said Yusri, Wednesday, October 27.

The criminal offense referred to is related to Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases and Article 6 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this rule must be obeyed by everyone. Thus, the spread of COVID-19 can be handled properly.

"So we have raised it to the level of investigation, the suspicion regarding quarantine and disease outbreaks carries a threat of 1 year in prison," said Yusri.

Determination of the suspect

With this case being investigated, sooner or later the police will identify a suspect. It is also possible that Rachel Vennya, Salim Nauderer, and their manager, who was in the spotlight for running away when quarantine was over from the United States, would be named suspects.

However, in the process of determining the suspect, investigators need additional evidence. Thus, investigators will examine witnesses and experts.

In addition, investigators will also examine Rachel Vennya again. Currently, the administrative process is being prepared. However, it is not clear when the inspection will take place.

"Later on, our follow-up plan will prepare the administration as soon as possible to summon the person concerned again for us to conduct an examination," said Yusri.

Rachel Vennya is known to have run away while undergoing quarantine at the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) after a vacation from the United States.

At the beginning of this case, Kodam Jaya as part of the COVID-19 Task Force carried out an investigation. Where, it was found the involvement of two TNI personnel who helped Rachel Vennya.

The two TNI personnel had the initials FS and IG. They served in the Soekarno Hatta Airport Security Task Force, Tangerang, Banten, and the Pademangan Athlete's Wisma.

They allegedly arranged and helped Rachel Vennya escape quarantine after returning from overseas.
