JAKARTA - Three people died after a car was hit by a freight train at an unstoppable crossing at Km 25+0/1 plot of the Tegowanu-Gubuk road, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, Wednesday.

As reported by Antara, Wednesday, October 27, the Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Operation Area 4 Semarang, Krisbiyantoro, in a press release in Semarang, said that the incident began when a car with the police number AE 1903 VS crossed the unattended crossing.

At the same time, he said, there was a series of freight trains that sounded the warning flute many times.

"The driver of the car allegedly ignored him and kept crossing", he said.

As a result of the incident, three passengers in the car died.

The three passengers in the car, Edi Suriono (26), Nari (57), and Sarjono (70), are residents of Tegowanu, Grobogan Regency, respectively.

The three victims were then evacuated to the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, while the handling of the accident case was handed over to the Tegowanu Police.

As a result of the incident, he continued, the journey of the freight train was disrupted due to damage to the locomotive.

To the public, Krisbiyantoro appealed to prioritize the railroad when crossing level crossings.

In addition, he also hopes that unattended level crossings will be closed for mutual safety.
